A C-17 medevac plane transporting injured U.S. military personnel from an operation aimed at capturing Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro landed in San Antonio this past weekend. The troops were taken to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) for medical care. City officials confirmed the aircraft’s arrival after tracking its flight from Joint Base Charleston to Puerto Rico and then on to Texas.

The injured soldier is currently receiving treatment at a military hospital in San Antonio. Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones confirmed their arrival at BAMC.

The mayor expressed concern for the injured soldiers, sharing her thoughts during a recent interview. “I hope they receive the care they need,” she mentioned in her talk with KENS 5 on Monday.

Flight tracking tools indicated that the medevac flight left Joint Base Charleston on Saturday, with its first stop in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, before heading to San Antonio. The aircraft, identified as a C-17A Globemaster and using the call sign #AE20C7, departed from BQN, Aguadilla, en route to Joint Base San Antonio.

Upon arriving in San Antonio, an unspecified number of wounded soldiers were taken to BAMC, suffering from minor injuries and shrapnel wounds. BAMC is noted as the only Level I trauma center in the military medical network and has a history of treating critical injuries from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally, the hospital features a specialty ward for burn treatment at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR).

On Sunday, President Donald Trump addressed reporters aboard Air Force One, noting that the injured soldiers from Operation Absolute Resolve were “in good condition.” He remarked that the military operation was “very dangerous.” Details about the exact number of people injured or the severity of their injuries remain limited. Attempts to contact Brooke Army Medical Center for further information went unanswered.

In a press conference on Saturday, President Trump reassured that there were no American military casualties during the mission, which utilized over 150 aircraft from various locations across the Western Hemisphere. He described a bold raid on a military base in Caracas, where troops encountered ground fire from Venezuelan forces, ultimately leading to the destruction of the threat by U.S. military helicopters. Reports suggested that at least one U.S. helicopter was rammed by Venezuelan ground troops.

The operation showcased advanced capabilities, with state-of-the-art jets like the F-22, F-35, and B-1 bombers involved, alongside rotary-wing aircraft and drones. Army Secretary Pete Hegseth commended the effective coordination of military resources during the complex mission at a press conference following President Trump’s statements. “What I witnessed last night was the sheer grit, bravery, and glory of the American warrior. This operation is about the protection and prosperity of the American people,” Hegseth remarked, underscoring the commitment to national security.
