Inmate who escaped prison nearly 4 months ago captured leaving a Planet Fitness 200 miles away

An inmate who escaped from a western Pennsylvania prison in early December was arrested after authorities spotted him leaving Planet Fitness in Philadelphia.

Isaiah Robert Tillman, 33, was taken into custody Friday in the 3300 block of Aramingo Avenue in Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia U.S. Marshals Service.

Tillman had fled Blair County Jail on Dec. 3 after being arrested on drug charges and a parole violation.

After fleeing, Tillman stole a red 2011 Ford F-150.

The prison is about 200 miles west of Philadelphia, and the escapee was found Friday morning in the 1800 block of East Schiller Street in Kensington, FOX29 Philadelphia reported.

According to the report, law enforcement tracked Tillman as he drove a black BMW to Planet Fitness.

When Tillman left the gym around 11 a.m., more than a dozen agents were waiting outside the building to take him into custody.

“This arrest was the result of the diligent efforts of our Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Fugitive Task Forces to capture a dangerous fugitive,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark. “The Sheriff’s Office is by far the best in the industry at finding people who don’t want to be found, and this arrest confirms that fact.”

Tillman was charged with fleeing, fleeing to avoid arrest, and additional charges related to the escape.
