Inside a low-key warehouse party in LA — where guests swap glow sticks for blankets

One Saturday night in downtown Los Angeles, an unconventional party swapped out electronic dance music for soothing ambient sounds, and blankets took the place of traditional drinks.

The event, titled “Remember That Quiet Evenings,” held on July 11, saw guests arriving with pillows, settling on the floor, and immersing themselves in the music of Tibetan singing bowls, modular synthesizers, and ambient guitars.

Before the evening’s main act, attendees enjoyed food, chatted, and even journaled—engaging in an activity that’s becoming more of a rarity on weekend nights in the city: simply remaining still.

The concept behind the evening came from Adam Weiss, a seasoned event promoter in Los Angeles who used to organize underground parties. After committing to sobriety for 17 years, he felt that the vibrant party scene no longer aligned with the healthier lifestyle he was cultivating.

“The more I delved into sobriety, the clearer it became that traditional warehouse parties didn’t fit,” Adam reflected. “So, I wondered, ‘What else could I do? What types of events could foster connection?’

He decided to create “healthy events” focused on meditation, self-reflection, and community. “Remember That Quiet Evenings” merges these elements with the vibe of an underground music gathering.

As the guests formed a line across the expansive warehouse, the chatter faded, giving way to the live performance. Adam presented the evening’s music using singing bowls and chimes, accompanied by musicians blending atmospheric synths and guitars, crafting an experience reminiscent of a sound bath, but enhanced by the presence of live music.

One attendee remarked that the blend of sounds and instruments set this event apart from other sound baths she had attended. Another felt “well-rested” and more in tune with his inner self.

For Adam, the essence of the event was straightforward—more than any formal description could encapsulate.

“This whole concept is about inviting people to slow down, to pause, and embrace silence,” he stated.
