Russell Wilson is “honored” to be a member of Big Blue.
To close the whirlwind day with his wife Ciara in the Tri-State area, he officially launched the next NFL chapter with the Giants, so the Super Bowl-winning quarterback posted a loving message to X fans.
“I'm honored to be a giant.” Wilson wrote Wednesday with Giants X-handle and blue heart emoji.
Ciara, who has been married to Wilson since 2016, joined the quarterback at the Giants facility earlier in the day and spent time with manager Brianda Ball.
Wilson, 36, put his pen on paper for a one-year contract with a one-year team worth $10.5 million. Before taking some promotional shots With a 39-year-old singer.
“I'm excited!” Ciara gushed on Instagram on Wednesday. “I'm going to Big Blue!”
The couple then ventured into Madison Square Garden, where they took on the Knicks' 127-113 defeat to courtside for the Clippers.
Ciara and Wilson hugged Spike Lee and Ed Sheeran on the floor, and the crowd offered a warm welcome to the Pro Bowlers ten times.
After spending last season in Pittsburgh, Wilson arrived in New York, where he played in 11 regular season games and reached the playoffs. He threw for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback played alongside Justin Fields. Justin Fields left Pittsburgh in the Giants' Crosstown Rival Jets free agency on a two-year, $40 million deal.
The Steelers are targeting former Jet quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has yet to decide on his next step.
The Giants were in Rogers' sweepstakes, but Wilson is keen to show what he can offer as both a quarterback and leader.
“Aaron Rodgers is an incredible football player. He's done some great things in this league,” Wilson said Wednesday in media availability. “I've been fortunate to do some great things. Really, the focus I'm on here right now is what I can do.”
Wilson is expected to be a “predict” but previously Browns' Jamis Winston is expected to be the backup to a two-year, $8 million deal.
There is also a broad belief that the Giants will get a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft, where they hold the overall picks for the third inning.
“When I draft a quarterback, I make sure he can be prepared for this mentality,” Wilson said. “But for me it's about the winning process. It's focused on winning, and now we can win as quarterbacks for the New York Giants.”
The victory was something the Giants had little experience in 2024, finishing 3-14 in their 100th franchise milestone season, releasing quarterback Daniel Jones along the way.
Wilson, who won the Super Bowl at the Giants' Home MetLife Stadium alongside the Seahawks in February 2014, is ready to reach the summit again after losing the season.
“Unless you win everything, you never feel like you'll do it well,” Wilson said. “That's how I always felt. There were amazing years and a variety of things along the way, but whenever you don't win everything as a warrior and a competitor, I want to say you got it all and did that year.”
Ciara cheers for Wilson and the Giants at every stage.
She shares her daughters, Siena Princess, 7, and Amora Princess, 1, with Wilson, and her son, Wynn Harrison, 4;
Ciara is also the mother of her 10-year-old son Zahir from her previous relationship.
