Many would say Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes had a successful 2024 season. The team won nine games, ranked in the AP top 25 and advanced to a bowl game. Star cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter also won the Heisman Trophy. On the surface, the Buffs appear to have a bright future.
However, Jason Whitlock has a source, “a person with knowledge of the situation,” who says, “The situation is ripe and it is right for Deion Sanders to leave Colorado following a 36-14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl.” claims.
According to Jason's source, “He's going to the Alamo Bowl in Colorado.” [was] Forced to “do everything from NIL money” and “on a tight budget.”
Apparently, “the players were frustrated” with the subpar bowl game experience due to budget constraints, which is why the team “didn't take the bowl game as seriously.”
Jason's source also said, “The Buffaloes spent two nights at what was basically a rented strip club on Christmas Day and the day after.” However, the escape did not involve Travis Hunter, who doesn't go to clubs.
“Their focus wasn't on that because they didn't have the money,” Jason says.
Although his sources predict that Dion's exit is imminent, Jason isn't so sure.
“I think Colorado is going to pony up,” he says. “They got a five-star quarterback. They got other good recruits. It looks like Dion is going to stay.”
But Dion claims he got into coaching to help raise his children, Shedur and Shiloh, and now that they're both set to graduate, Dion will likely consider his work done.
Plus, “Dion is positioning himself as a candidate for an NFL job,” Jason says.
“If Dion plays, [then his time at Colorado] It was a disaster and it wasn't worth it,” he added.
