On Friday, unsettling audio from the 911 call made by Texas teenager Austin Metcalf was released shortly after he was fatally stabbed by Carmelo Anthony. A friend could be heard anxiously saying, “My friend is bleeding everywhere,” while a coach in the background urged, “Fight through, fight through!”
Mason, one of the callers, informed the operator that Metcalf, 17, a standout in track and football at Memorial High School, had “just got stabbed” at Frisco Field.
“Send an ambulance now,” Mason urged.
He described Anthony, a competitor from the Centennial High School track team, as a Black male wearing a gray hoodie and blue sweatpants, mentioning that his coach was trying to keep him still.
When Metcalf asked why he was stabbed, Mason reiterated, “My friend was bleeding everywhere.”
In the background, a voice frantically stated, “It’s Austin, Austin was stabbed in the chest.”

Another caller reported amidst chaos, “an athlete has been stabbed.” At one point, Metcalf’s football coach, Joshua Rebman, was heard urging the critically injured boy, “Come on, come on!” While performing CPR, he encouraged, “Do your best, do your best! You’re doing well.”
The caller informed the 911 operator that Metcalf was unconscious but still breathing.
The audio was released a week after Anthony’s murder conviction, as racial tensions rose in McKinney, where the trial took place.
In April 2025, Anthony was reportedly hiding in a tent at a rival school when an argument broke out with Metcalf. Witnesses indicated that Anthony was told multiple times to leave before he drew a $13, 3.5-inch serrated knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest.
At the time of the incident, Anthony was 17 years old and was tried as an adult, receiving a sentence of 35 years in prison.
