Inter Miami CF Upset After Key Players Miss Game

Inter Miami CF is quite upset regarding the absence of two crucial players.

Both Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba were unable to participate in a match after opting out of the MLS All-Star Game. Club co-owner Jorge Mas expressed his frustration during a press conference, emphasizing the team’s feelings about the situation.

“Lionel Messi is very disappointed that he can’t play tomorrow night, just like the rest of us in the club. However, we need to come together and maintain our attitude in the face of this,” Mas stated.

The club clarified that the players didn’t choose to skip the game; instead, they immediately called for a review of the situation.

In just 36 days, the team has played nine games.

“Honestly, I believe the punishment for this rule is quite severe,” Mas commented.

Inter Miami is set to face FC Cincinnati on Saturday, currently the top team in the Eastern Conference.

“It’s not a great reaction from Messi and Alba,” Mas noted. “They want to compete, they want to be on the field. That’s why they’re here – to play and to win. They recognize the significance of the game coming up.”

The club indicated that if a similar situation arises next year, the ruling will remain unchanged, with any All-Star players receiving a break.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber mentioned that the league is carefully evaluating future policies.

“I’m working closely with players to figure out how the rules can evolve,” Garber added.

As of now, Messi and Inter Miami are sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, trailing first-place Cincinnati by only six points.
