Interested in being a lab participant? The University of Minnesota offers a website for sign-ups.

Study Participation and Its Importance

Every week, the website typically adds between two to five new studies. Over the past year, it has seen more than 60,000 visits, along with around 4,000 emails from users interested in joining study teams, as stated by Megan Hoffman, a program director at the university’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

Aaron Hellem, an assistant professor in physical therapy at the University of Minnesota’s medical school, emphasized that volunteer participation in clinical trials is “hugely important.”

Hellem successfully used StudyFinder to recruit active volleyball players for a research project focused on shoulder pain.

Researchers rely heavily on volunteer participants; without them, they would be compelled to use laboratory animals to search for potential solutions.

“You can’t truly assess effectiveness until you bring it to the level of human complexity,” he remarked.

In addition to this platform, other databases for research studies that enroll volunteer subjects include ClinicalTrials.gov, an international registry managed by the National Library of Medicine.
