John Stamos attempted to show support for his “Full House” costar Dave Coulier, who is battling cancer, but the internet thinks his efforts are distasteful.
Stamos faced backlash Monday after posting images on Instagram wearing a bald cap alongside Coulier, captioning them with expressions of solidarity. Social media users blasted the gesture as “performative,” suggesting that shaving his head would have been a more genuine show of support.
“Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier,” he wrote.
“You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity — it’s inspiring,” Stamos wrote to Coulier. “I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you.”
He seemed to have meant well, but the internet accused him of missing the mark.
This might be such a dumb take but this seems performative as fuck just shave your head for fucks sake.

“I know how Uncle Jesse feels about his hair but this is weird,” another user said.
“Cos playing a cancer victim in the name of solidarity 🤦🏼♂️,” one user added.
“Shame on you John. Not funny even if it is for Dave,” another wrote on Stamos’s comment section.

“Quit being a baby and actually shave your head,” another commenters wrote.
“Ehhh if you’re not actually going to shave your head in actual solidarity then just sit this one out,” a user wrote.
Some fans supported Stamos for standing by his friend, but others felt that his gesture was weak because he stopped short of actually shaving his head.
“Oh, people – what’s more important? That he shave his head or that he’s actually there for him?” one user wrote in defense of Stamos.
The actor has not addressed the backlash, and the comment section on his post remains live. (RELATED: Beloved ‘Full House’ Star Dave Coulier Reveals Cancer Diagnosis)
