While no injuries were reported, officers noted the presence of anti-Semitic graffiti on a roadway in the vicinity of St. Louis.

Authorities are treating the situation as a hate crime, emphasizing that initial inquiries suggest the individual targeted was chosen specifically.

Community Response

Clayton Mayor Bridget McAndrew expressed concern over what she termed “aggressive and violent acts of arson” occurring in the city, aimed at residents.

She stated, “We do not tolerate harassment, threats, or violence based on someone’s nationality, race, religion, or ideology.” The mayor underscored the city’s commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels safe and respected.

McAndrew further appealed to residents, urging them to embrace the values of respect and inclusion that form the foundation of their community.

The FBI and the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Units are involved in the inquiry to assist local detectives.

Local media outlet First Alert 4 reported that a drone was utilized to capture footage of the graffiti, with some messages appearing to target specific individuals.

Attorney General Hal Harriet Dillon shared her suspicions about the anti-Semitic vandalism and emphasized a commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable for such violent actions.

The Jewish Federation of St. Louis has condemned the attack, stating, “This is more than vandalism. It’s a hateful act of threat, just the latest example of what happens when anti-Semitism and anti-Israel rhetoric is normalized.”
