Iowa to Retire Caitlin Clark’s #22 Jersey

The jersey number made famous by Caitlin Clark at the University of Iowa will be retired by the University of Iowa.

In an announcement posted to X on Wednesday, the school announced that Clark's iconic No. 22 jersey will be retired for the Hawkeyes' game against USC on Feb. 2 .

“I will forever be proud to be a Hawkeye, and Iowa holds a special place in my heart even more than basketball,” Clark said in a statement. “It means so much to me to receive this honor and celebrate with my family, friends, and alumni.”

Clark's accomplishments at the University of Iowa were not limited to the world of women's college basketball. She surpassed Kelsey Plumb as the all-time leading scorer for women, and surpassed all-time leading scorer Pistol Pete Maravich for men to become the No. 1 overall scorer in school history.

In 139 games at the University of Iowa, Clark averaged an impressive 28.4 points and 8.2 assists.

Clark's historic college career served as the springboard for a groundbreaking rookie campaign in the WNBA, where the sharpshooter broke the league record for 3-pointers and single-season 3-pointers by a rookie.
