Iran’s Military Vows to Continue Fighting Despite Losses
On Tuesday, an Iranian military spokesperson asserted that Tehran’s forces would persist in their fight “until complete victory,” even in the face of substantial losses linked to a joint U.S.-Israeli operation. Maj. Gen. Ali Abdullahi Aliabadi from Iran’s supreme military command expressed these sentiments following President Trump’s recent decision to call off a planned U.S. strike against Iran due to diplomatic progress.
“Iran’s powerful armed forces are proud and determined to protect the integrity of Iran, and this path will continue until complete victory,” state media reported Aliabadi as saying. However, he didn’t elaborate on what exactly a “total victory” would entail.
According to U.S. Central Command, the operation named Epic Fury, which began on February 28, resulted in the destruction or damage of over 140 Iranian naval vessels. The operation included more than 9,000 combat flights.
CENTCOM specified that the targets of the operation included Iranian naval ships, submarines, air defense systems, missile bases, military communications infrastructures, and facilities involved in producing drones and ballistic missiles.
President Trump remarked on Friday about the situation in Iran, stating, “The navy, the air force, the anti-aircraft guns are all gone.” He continued to elaborate that the Iranian leadership has been significantly depleted, saying, “Their leaders are all gone, their next leaders are all gone…” This commentary followed his earlier statements celebrating what he characterized as one of the most complex military operations in history against Iran.
While it may seem like significant progress is being made, there’s a certain unpredictability in Trump’s strategy towards Iran. With major Iranian assets reportedly reduced, it raises questions about the future dynamics in the region and what might come next.
Amid dramatic changes, it remains to be seen how this situation will evolve. Whatever happens, it’s clear that tensions are high, and the outcomes are uncertain.
