Iran's president cautions of total war if the U.S. attacks Ayatollah

Warnings from Iran’s Leadership

Iran’s president has cautioned that any attempt by the United States or other nations to target Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would be considered a declaration of war, potentially leading to widespread conflict.

In a post on X this past Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian remarked that protesters are frustrated with U.S. sanctions impacting the economy, despite some calls to overthrow the current regime.

“An attack on the great leader of our country equates to a full-scale war with the Iranian nation,” he declared.

Pezeshkian further attributed the unrest in Iran to U.S. actions.

“If the people of Iran are facing difficulties, much of it stems from the longstanding hostility and inhumane sanctions imposed by the U.S. and its allies,” he stated.

This comes in light of President Donald Trump’s repeated threats to strike Iran and his suggestion that it may be time for new leadership in the country. Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has repeatedly urged Iranians to continue pressing the Islamic Republic, calling on the military to stand against the Ayatollah.

“I have a particular message for military personnel: you are the national army of Iran, not the army of the Islamic Republic,” Pahlavi expressed. “You have a responsibility to protect your fellow citizens. Join the people as soon as possible. State institution employees and security forces have the opportunity to side with the nation or risk eternal shame.”

It’s uncertain whether Iran could effectively engage in a full war against the U.S. should President Trump decide to act.
