Trump Issues Warning to Iran After Bridge Attack
President Donald Trump has urged Iran to “make a deal before it’s too late” following a U.S. airstrike that destroyed a significant bridge west of Tehran. Officials indicated that this bridge was critical for transporting drones and missile components to Iranian forces targeting allies in the region, with Trump suggesting that more attacks could occur as pressure builds on the Iranian regime.
On Thursday, Trump posted a video of the strike on Truth Social, stating, “Iran’s biggest bridge has collapsed and will never be used again. There’s more to come! It’s time for Iran to make a deal before it’s too late. There’s nothing left to make us great!”
The targeted B1 bridge connects Tehran to Karaj and serves as a crucial transport route. Authorities claim the Iranian military utilized it for moving missile components and logistics to launch sites in western Iran. This bridge, towering more than 130 meters, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country and a vital commercial conduit for regional transport and freight.
A U.S. defense official noted that the bridge facilitated the transfer of missile parts in large containers from Tehran to their launch locations, while also providing logistical support to Iranian military units. This was viewed as a “planned military supply route” essential for Iran’s ballistic missile and drone operations, with expectations that further strikes on similar infrastructures are likely.
Sources indicated that the operation targeted supply lines used for transporting drone parts and missile systems intended for attacking U.S. and allied forces. Additional reports suggest that the bridge played a role in moving weaponry and logistical support for Iranian endeavors, marking a wider strategy to directly strike transportation infrastructure, potentially intensifying pressure on the Iranian government to negotiate.
In a national address on Wednesday night, Trump emphasized that the U.S. is nearing its goals under Operation Epic Fury, claiming that Iran’s navy is now “extinct,” its air force “ruined,” and its missile capabilities largely dismantled. He asserted that military objectives would be achieved soon, and hinted at concluding operations within “two to three weeks.” Trump also warned that Iran would face severe consequences if negotiations were not initiated.
He further cautioned that the U.S. could target additional infrastructure, including energy facilities, which might send Iran “back into the Stone Age.” Iran’s response suggested a potential escalation, with the Iranian Foreign Minister claiming that infrastructure throughout the region could be viewed as “legitimate targets.” He questioned Trump’s comments about returning to the “Stone Age,” noting that during that era, no oil or gas was pumped in the Middle East.
This situation underscores escalating tensions, as Trump maintains the possibility of further attacks on critical infrastructure if Iran remains uncooperative, while reiterating the goal of concluding operations soon.
