New York Governor Cathy Hochul said murder suspect Luigi Mangione will be indicted “right away” for the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“I have full confidence in the prosecutors here in Manhattan to make sure they bring an ironclad indictment,” Hochul said on MSNBC's “Morning Joe.”

Hochul said she trusts Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to put together a strong case against Mangione, 26, adding that she intends to issue an extradition warrant once the charges are filed. .
“I want to bring him back here to New York State and execute him through the criminal justice system, because that horrific attack happened on our streets, and the people of our city want to see this perpetrator. They should have a calm sense that they committed the crime.''If there was justice, they would be caught and never see the light of day again.
“You can't assassinate individuals on the streets of New York. Not now. Never,” she said.
Bragg said Thursday morning that he is confident in his office's ability to secure an indictment because it has presented extensive evidence against Mangione to the grand jury.
“As we allege, this is clearly a serious and very worrying murder.” Bragg told ABC 7. “If we believe this is not the person, we will not and remain prepared to prosecute that person.”
