More than a month has passed since the attempted assassination of President Trump, but there still doesn’t seem to be any contradiction.
Not only did President Trump’s Secret Service bodyguards fail to protect him, but he was denied additional security despite the known threat from Iran. Even if that was simply incompetence, it’s still very troubling.
“One of the things that worries me is the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump, which has revealed what a paper tiger the Secret Service is and how they are not the James Bond of the world,” says investigative journalist and author Gerald Posner. Glenn Beck.
Posner believes this “may encourage copycats” who perceive the system as “vulnerable.”
But Glenn doesn’t believe this is simply a case of incompetence, and believes the system may just be working as it’s supposed to.
“This is the heart of conspiracy theories,” Glenn said. “What the government is doing, what the Secret Service is doing, what the FBI is doing, is not normal. If they don’t want conspiracy theories, then they’re doing exactly the wrong thing.”
“That’s absolutely true,” Posner agreed. “Not only is the government hiding information from the American public, from investigators and from researchers in this case, but some members of Congress are encouraging whistleblowers to come forward.”
“That’s not the way to get information when a former president of the United States is about to be killed,” he continued. “They should have learned from the Kennedy assassination, but they didn’t. They should have learned from the King assassination. Cover-ups don’t work.”
“There’s no need to cover up a murder, you’re just covering up the truth,” he added.
