John Cena’s Final Match and Upcoming WrestleMania Hosting

Las Vegas – John Cena wrapped up his wrestling career in a main event match on a Saturday night in December, with a loss against Gunter marking his final appearance in the ring.

Cena’s year in 2025 has certainly been eventful. He secured victory in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, which gave him a chance to compete for the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes. During the same night, he turned heel, clashing with The Rock. In a surprising twist, he declared his intention to “ruin pro wrestling” at WrestleMania 41, where he went on to win the WWE Championship for an unprecedented 17th time.

Later, Cena made a face turn and returned to hand the title back to Rhodes. He briefly contended for the Intercontinental Championship but fell short against Dominik Mysterio during the Survivor Series: War Games event. A few weeks after that, he announced his retirement from wrestling.

Though he has declared his wrestling career over, it seems he may not be gone entirely; there’s still a possibility of him reappearing in some form. Cena is set to host WrestleMania 42 on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday nights.

This will mark his return to a WWE event since stepping down from in-ring competition.

Nights 1 and 2 of WrestleMania will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the second consecutive year.
