Is Nick Fuentes a Foreign Operative? New Evidence Implies Perhaps

Analysis of Nick Fuentes’ Social Media Activity

A recent report indicates that nearly half of the retweets for Nick Fuentes’ six most prominent posts—three prior to Charlie Kirk’s assassination and three following it—originated from foreign accounts.

This study, released by the Network Infection Research Institute, examined Fuentes’ interactions on social media and suggested that the engagement patterns resemble amplification by bot farms rather than genuine audience support. The findings were revealed in a report produced in collaboration with the Social Cognition Institute at Rutgers University.

Researchers noted that retweets were traced back to countries like India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These nations don’t have an inherent connection to Fuentes’ America First agenda, but they do correspond with the geographic regions where low-cost engagement firms operate.

Interestingly, Fuentes surpassed Elon Musk in terms of initial retweet rates, even though Musk has a significantly larger follower count. Within half an hour of his posts, about 61% of Fuentes’ retweets came from accounts that were consistently amplifying multiple posts within the same timeframe.

According to NCRI data, Fuentes’ rise wasn’t organic; the data suggests he was actively supported by foreign engagement farms and anonymous accounts that helped amplify his message for coordinated attacks, distorting his actual reach. While he has a real audience, the scale of his online presence is quite remarkable.

Among the accounts amplifying his message, a staggering 92% were anonymous, lacking any identifiable information. Many of these seemed to function as single-purpose accounts dedicated to promoting Fuentes.

The researchers pointed out a contradiction in Fuentes’ “America First” branding, noting his known admiration for adversaries of the U.S. For instance, a video of him emerged where he was seen with Iranian and Russian media.

Fuentes has also made headlines by leading chants of “Putin! Putin!” at political gatherings, even as Russia continued its bombardment of Ukraine. Additionally, he previously expressed a willingness to “fight on China’s side against the United States.”

The report concludes that Fuentes was likely directing his followers in real time during livestreams, instructing them to retweet certain posts. It’s worth noting that X’s platform policies explicitly forbid such coordinated manipulation.
