Nicki Minaj has become the center of playful speculation regarding a high-profile position in the White House after her recent experience on Air Force One.
With the departure of Karoline Leavitt in August, the Trump administration is keenly seeking a new press secretary. Following a brief five-day stint from Katie Zacharia, the position remains unfilled.
‘I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!’
With numerous names being considered for the role, speculation is rife. Among those mentioned are CNN contributor Scott Jennings, White House communications aide Danielle Alvarez, Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly, and Katie Miller, who is married to Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
On Sunday, White House communications director Steven Cheung hinted at another potential candidate: Nicki Minaj.
The rapper, originally from Trinidad and a vocal supporter of Trump and Vice President Vance, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, joined Trump during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, this past Sunday.
After singing praises for the president and criticizing “sex changes” for kids, Trump remarked, “You see why everybody likes Nicki. Love, like. But she is a very, very special person. She gets it. Smart.”
Traveling to Michigan with flair — on Air Force One — she later chatted with Cheung, who posted a video clip of their conversation on social media, captioning it with, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!”
The White House’s X account responded with an eyeball emoji, while the Trump War Room account noted, “Press Secretary @NICKIMINAJ has a nice ring to it!”
These playful interactions sparked much speculation about Minaj’s actual candidacy, especially given some controversies surrounding her, including her husband’s rape conviction, her brother’s child rape conviction, and her past of arriving in the U.S. as an illegal immigrant child.
As for a formal response, the White House had yet to reply to inquiries from Blaze News by the deadline. However, a source familiar with the situation indicated to Semafor that a new appointment would “definitely not” come before the midterms.
Cheung also mentioned to Semafor that the president and his team are primarily focusing on the midterm elections.
Minaj, who on January 28 expressed her intent to finalize “citizenship paperwork,” has not responded to a request for comment from Blaze News.
