Is the Shroud of Turin legit? one pastor’s interesting take

Is there enough evidence to prove that Jesus Christ’s burial cloth, the Shroud of Turin, is authentic?

Glenn Beck thinks so.

“I think we all have incredible pieces of the puzzle, and I think one of those pieces is the Shroud of Turin,” he says, describing the Shroud as a “reverse negative.” Did.

“When his body came to life, it was like the burial cloth was a film and it was printed with a burst of light… There was a negative of his body inside that cloth. No one knows how it was made.”

Jeremiah Johnston, an apologetic pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church, is a believer but was once a skeptic.

“Non-Catholics have an air of contempt for the Shroud,” Johnston tells Glenn, but points out that even C.S. Lewis took the Shroud of Turin seriously.

“Lewis said, ‘I wanted you to remember every morning and night that my God has a face.’ So here we are talking about something strange and peripheral.” ,” Johnston explains.

Some skeptics argue that there’s no way a burial shroud would last 2,000 years, but Johnston disagrees.

“If you’re a student of history, you’ll see that there’s even a Tarkan dress linen shirt, and guess what, Glenn? This is 3,200 years older than the Shroud of Turin,” he said. “In the right environment, linen will last forever.”

Even Adolf Hitler tried to steal the Shroud during World War II.

“They had to save it from Hitler’s hands,” Johnston said, noting that it is “the most studied interdisciplinary relic in the world.”

Shrouds are much more processed than regular cloth.

“It’s not a hoax. There’s no pigment, no ink, no dye. The shroud has survived three fires and been exposed to water twice,” Johnston says.
