Is Trump about to get 'Rush Hour 4'? Brett Ratner's trip on Air Force One is a positive indication

Brett Ratner Visits China on Air Force One

On Tuesday, director Brett Ratner was on Air Force One for a journey to China, facilitated by the Trump administration. This trip caught the attention of the traveling press corps, who recognized him while onboard.

Ratner is recognized for directing and producing the recent biopic “Melania” about the First Lady. Alongside him were notable figures, including Elon Musk and former Apple CEO Tim Cook, as part of a broader delegation.

As reported by New York Post journalist Emily Goodin, Ratner aimed to scout locations for the anticipated sequel “Rush Hour 4,” which has garnered President Trump’s enthusiasm.

First Time Filming in China

A representative for Ratner indicated that this film would mark his inaugural filming venture in China, with “Rush Hour 4” set to commence production in 2027.

In a previous report by Blaze News, it was mentioned that Trump had encouraged Paramount’s founder, David Ellison, to revive “raucous comedies” and classic action flicks. Trump’s affinity for films, including Jean-Claude Van Damme’s “Bloodsport” from 1988, has also fueled his push for a new “Rush Hour” installment starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, with the last one, “Rush Hour 3,” being released in 2007.

Challenges in Ratner’s Career

Previously, Ratner had been exploring a new “Rush Hour” project but had to halt those plans amid accusations of sexual misconduct by six women during the #MeToo movement. Reports from 2017 suggest that Paramount had reservations about working with him at that time.

Once a prominent action director, Ratner’s career has since diminished. His film “Melania” is reportedly his first since producing crime thrillers.

The White House hasn’t commented on Ratner’s attendance with the delegation. Other notable attendees included Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, Blackstone’s CEO Stephen Schwarzman, General Electric’s CEO Larry Culp, and Goldman Sachs’ CEO David Solomon.
