When I think back to the beginning of my medicalization to make me look and feel like a man, I wonder why no doctor or nurse spoke up or questioned whether it really made sense to subject a severely mentally disabled 14-year-old girl to such life-changing treatment.
Now, Dr. Eisan Haim’s treatment Department of JusticeI understand why so many health workers remain silent as they watch children being slaughtered and abused.
Dr. Heim was a whistleblower trying to protect vulnerable people like me from undergoing radical, experimental, and life-changing medical procedures.
In 2023, he learned that Texas Children’s Hospital was performing pediatric gender reassignment surgeries and misleading the public about the truth. He helped expose that truth. By exposing what was going on inside the hospital, he prompted the Texas Legislature (the elected representatives of that state’s citizens) to take action. The state of Texas made it illegal to perform the kind of treatments on minors that he witnessed.
However, just one month after Chris Rufo’s article on Dr. Heim’s documents was published, City JournalFederal investigators were treating him like a criminal. They claimed he had violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which is intended to protect the privacy of individual patients. But according to reporters who covered the case and received corroborating evidence from Dr. Heim about what was going on at the hospital, the documents he provided had been carefully redacted to remove individual patient data and comply with HIPAA.
Personally, I am grateful to Dr. Heim. Texas Children’s HospitalHe was protecting vulnerable children from making a mistake they would regret for the rest of their lives. Documents he provided showed the hospital was implanting cross-sex hormones in children as young as 11 years old.
Who would have thought that even a mentally healthy 11-year-old would be mature enough to understand what loss of sexual function, reduced fertility, and increased risk of many serious and irreversible diseases, from osteoporosis to vaginal atrophy and tumor growth, really means? And most of the kids who are seeking these treatments are not mentally healthy. Many, like me, struggle with issues like autism, ADHD, eating disorders, and depression. Many struggle with their sexual orientation or, like me, have been victims of sexual abuse. They want a quick, planned solution to make their problems go away.
These gender treatments are being touted as an “easy” solution by many in society, and it is disappointing, even disgusting, that many medical professionals who have sworn to “do no harm” are fueling this delusion and encouraging young children to go down this path.
Dr. Heim says he won’t be silenced or intimidated by the Department of Justice or anyone else who is targeting him. He is calling on other medical professionals to join him in speaking out against a treatment that is harming so many vulnerable children. Last week, American Academy of Pediatrics signed Doctors’ Declaration to Protect Children We call on medical institutions to stop using current medical and harmful treatment protocols on minors, and we hope this will inspire more people to speak up.
I am doing my part to ensure that no other child suffers as I did, being rushed into experimental and irreversible gender treatments. By acting now and punishing those responsible, I hope to prevent the same thing from happening to anyone else.
I cannot be silenced. Dr. Haim cannot be silenced. A growing number of courageous detransitionists are speaking out against a medical system that simply abandons vulnerable patients. Too many vulnerable children suffer because of an ideologically driven treatment system. It is time to end this experiment. No one should be silenced for speaking the truth.
