Isabelle Johnson accused of murder while on the run from police

A woman in Florida is evading capture after being charged with the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a shallow grave. Police believe 38-year-old Isabelle Johnson is using various aliases to avoid authorities.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office shared that Johnson is charged with killing 43-year-old Jason Christopher Coulthardt. His remains were found buried on a property in Freeport, a location in Florida’s Panhandle, following a missing person report. He was last seen on May 24, leaving his university condo.

After his disappearance, investigators received leads that pointed them to the burial site, where Coulthardt’s body was recovered on June 25. Niceville Police Chief Mark Heiss expressed his condolences, saying, “This is not the news we wanted to deliver to the Niceville community. We are with Jason’s family and will continue to work closely with our partners to resolve this case.”

Authorities believe Johnson played a role in Coulthardt’s death and have issued a warrant for her arrest. They noted that she appears to be actively avoiding law enforcement, although the nature of her connection to the victim hasn’t been clarified.

Johnson might be using multiple names, including Hurley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, and Jessica Dowdy. So far, three others have been arrested in connection with the murder: 74-year-old Michael Ray White and 59-year-old Kathleen Morris, both from Santa Rosa Beach, face charges of aiding and abetting a felony. White is suspected of helping Johnson evade capture between June 25 and June 30.

Morris reportedly misled officers about Johnson’s whereabouts and assisted her with supplies and transportation. Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson has warned that anyone aiding Johnson will face charges, emphasizing the seriousness of the investigation: “This is a murder case, and we will not allow anyone to obstruct it.”

Additionally, surveillance footage showing Johnson was released by the authorities; however, they caution that her appearance may have changed since that time.
