Andy Reid’s lineage of success as a running back goes back to the year Isaiah Pacheco was born, Deuce Staley surpassed 1,000 yards, and three years later, Reid and Brian Westbrook coached 3-3. It goes back to when the Eagles won the NFC East in 2016. He was also a future Pro Bowler and 1,000-yard rusher, earning carries as a rookie. Present and future set.
That was in 1999 and 2002. It would be another 20 years before Pacheco completed his final season at Rutgers. In between them were Westbrook and LeSean McCoy. Jamaal Charles and Spencer Ware. Kareem Hunt and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Jerick McKinnon, Chalkandrick West and Damian Williams also had their moments.
Reid has coached running backs to Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers, but he has coached without star players recently, especially the past two years. The Chiefs are without Christian McCaffrey, but the 49ers have featured him since acquiring him from the Panthers in 2022 and they plan to get him again in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday.
Instead, they plan to use a seventh-round draft pick from Vineland, New Jersey. He became a star at Rutgers, runs with a trademark ferocious style that makes him difficult to tackle, and is a player who, along with Patrick Mahomes, will be the focal point of the offense and aim for second seconds. Continuous title.
