‘Island Boys’ rapper Franky Venegas arrested in Florida on gun, drug charges

“Island Boys” rapper Frankie Venegas was arrested during a traffic stop in Florida on gun and drug charges, authorities said.

Venegas, 23, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with prescription and firearm possession and possession of a controlled substance, WPLG reported.

The sheriff's office said Venegas was a passenger in a yellow corvette on Sunday and the driver (a 25-year-old woman) did not come to the full stop with a stop sign.

After a traffic stop, the sergeant asked Venegas and the driver to leave the vehicle, and the K-9 unit searched the vehicle.

A clear plastic Ziploc bag containing five oxycodone pills was found on the passenger side floorboard. Deputies also found a handbag with a handgun, a plastic straw and a credit card with the name Venegas inside. The gun was spray painted blue and had no serial number.

Vegenas claimed that the pills were not him and that he had no idea where they came from. He later claimed he had a prescription for oxycodone but could not provide evidence, according to the New York Post.

Vegenas was booked at the Naples Prison Centre but was released on bonds on Monday. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 17th, prison records show.

Venegas, also known by his stage name Kodiyakredd, previously appeared in Fort Lauderdale in May as he allegedly pretended to be his twin brother when he was pulled for reckless driving. He was arrested. Prior to that, Venegas was arrested in Broward County after allegedly defeating his girlfriend, but the charges fell later.
