The Islanders finally unveiled their Stadium Series jerseys on Friday, but the design sparked a lot of criticism on social media.
The jersey has a dark blue base with a large orange stripe down the middle and the word “Isles” in all caps. According to an NHL press release, the design is based on the plimsoll line drawn on the hull of a ship.
“Is this real? I wonder how the marketing team allowed this to happen,” Isles-themed lunch joint Blue Line Deli & Bagels wrote to X. That's unbelievable. ”
In addition to criticism over the design and slow release (fans weren't able to buy jerseys for Christmas), some of the jerseys sold on the Isles Lab website were sold in March, almost a full month after the game ended. It wasn't shipped until the 15th. against the Rangers at MetLife Stadium.
That included Matt Barzal's jersey, as well as custom jerseys and blank jerseys.
Jerseys with last names on the back, such as Bo Horvat, Ilya Sorokin, Adam Pelech and Anders Lee, can now be shipped more quickly.
