Islanders’ Noah Dobson, Bo Horvat, Brock Nelson snubbed for All-Star Game

St. Paul, Minn. — Noah Dobson, Bo Horvat and Brock Nelson were all strong candidates to play at All-Star Weekend in Toronto.

However, none of the three will join Mathew Barzal, who was confirmed as the Islanders' only All-Star representative when the results of the fan vote were announced Saturday night.

As a result of the voting, the roster for the game was determined by the draft rather than by division, with the Canadian team heavily favored, and Colorado the only skater not to have played for the Maple Leafs, Canucks or Oilers among the eight fan-selected players. It was Cale Makar.

Dobson is averaging over a point per game and playing nearly 26 minutes a night, and Horvat is right behind him with 40 points in 41 games. Nelson, on the other hand, is on track to hit 40 goals in games 19 through 42.

But none of those cases were enough to overcome the simple fact that the Islanders' fan base was relatively small in size.

Last season, when divisional rosters allowed things to be a little more balanced, Ilya Sorokin was voted into the game to join Nelson, who was selected by the league. Horvat, who was traded to the Islanders just before All-Star weekend, was also there — he was selected by the Canucks.

Barzal was not among the first 10 skaters selected for the skills competition, but the other two spots will be determined by fan voting.

After Alexander Carrier scored the game-winning goal with 7.9 seconds left on Saturday, two of the Islanders' last four go-ahead goals allowed in franchise history came against Nashville, according to team statistician Eric Hornig. It is said that On December 7, 2021 at UBS Arena, Eeli Tolvanen scores at 19:48 of the third to give the Predators the victory.

The Islanders were scheduled to practice Sunday but canceled and instead vacationed in St. Paul. Anders Lee, Brock Nelson and Hudson Fassing all hail from Minnesota, and Oliver Wahlstrom attended Shattuck St. Mary's in Fairbaugh, Minnesota for two seasons.

The Isles have lost five straight games against the Wild, but Minnesota enters Monday afternoon's game at 1-7-1 after losing 6-0 at home to the Coyotes on Saturday, leading to a players-only meeting. It was reported. Athletic.
