Islanders’ Patrick Roy puzzled by goaltender interference rule again

One of the best goaltenders in the history of the sport is the enforcement of goaltender interference in the NHL, mystical, just like everyone else.

“Maybe we should ask a question, what's the goalkeeper interference now?” Patrick Roy said after his islanders worked overtime on Thursday to beat the Canadiens 4-3. “It's become tough and strict for everyone.”

It was not the first time he asked questions about the inconsistency enforcement rules this season, but a failed challenge to Patrick Lane's third term goals that prompted Roy to comment.

Anyway, Sorokin might have been out of position and hadn't had the play he made.

However, neither Roy nor Sorokin felt particularly satisfied with the support of the goal.

The goal, which brought the Canadians back to 3-2, had a major impact on leading the game into overtime.

If the islanders were stuck to win with regulations, they would be within the point of one of the last playoff spots in the East rather than two.

“I don't think I would be very happy if I were online,” Roy said. “Ilya was in the crease, he can't move to go to side-to-side play.

“I'm not thinking about it [the rule’s] It's very clear to everyone. If that was clear, we wouldn't have tried. ”

After finishing the night with 38 saves and assists, Sorokin said it was a 50/50 call.

“We can't move in this moment,” he said. “And when I ask the ref, they say, “that means interference.” [explain]it's difficult to understand. ”

For most of the overtime, Roy played two defensive men with one forward.

“I thought that was the best way to create some attacks,” he said. “We didn't put two defensive guys. They were two offensive defenders. [Noah Dobson and Tony DeAngelo] In BO [Horvat] And we trust these people. I thought Dobby was in a good position to play there. ”
