Islanders-Rangers game ends with controversy, Vincent Trochek irate over no-call

The heated rivalry showdown ended with some controversy.

With seconds remaining in the Islanders-Rangers game at UBS Arena on Tuesday, Blueshirt forward Vincent Trocheck was slammed into the boards from behind by defenseman Noah Dobson, but no penalty was called. The Islanders ended up slipping away 4-2. win.

As the Rangers controlled the puck in the offensive zone, the vulcanized rubber was tipped by the Islanders’ sticks and became airborne toward the end boards.

With the Islanders leading by one point, Trocheck tried to corral the puck, but was crushed by Dobson, sending the forward flying to the bottom of the boards.

The Islanders added an empty-netter by Anders Lee shortly after, but Trocheck was clearly furious with officials for not making the call.
