Israel Is Guilty of ‘Mass Murder,’ ‘River to the Sea’ Is Seen as Genocidal, Antisemitism in Congress is from GOP

On Thursday's “CNN Newsnight” broadcast, Rep. Jamal Bowman (D-N.Y.) said that while many believe the phrase “from river to sea” is a call for genocide, “if… “If there is anti-Semitism in Congress, it will be opposed.” comes from the Republican Party, not the Democratic Party,” and also claimed that Israel is guilty of “genocide” and war crimes.

“First of all, if there's any anti-Semitism in Congress, it's coming from the Republicans, not the Democrats,” Bowman said. Second, I was the first freshman in Congress in history to introduce a resolution condemning the Great Replacement Theory, and that resolution passed. [Democratic]-Managed home. Not a single Republican voted for my resolution denouncing the Great Alternative Theory. So, again, they are not seriously addressing the issue of anti-Semitism. ”

In another part of the show, host Abbey Phillippe asked: “I want to be specific here: One of the issues here is the phrase 'from river to sea,' which is what your colleague has spoken,” said Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-N.C. , Michigan), this is what is being chanted on some of these college campuses. These are words that Jews believe are calling for the genocide of Jews. Do you think it should be off-limits on Capitol Hill or on college campuses?”

Mr Bowman responded: “That's not the word I would use, it's not something I agree with, and it's something that absolutely needs to be addressed.”

Then Philip interjected and asked, “Do you think this is a call for genocide?”

Bowman replied: “That's not the word I would use. I know that many of my Jewish brothers and sisters believe that, and I don't want to get into what they feel that way.” And that word. I don't use it either. So what I'm saying is that when we talk about dealing with anti-Semitism, it's not enough to condemn certain words or actions. Republicans are trying to cut the Department of Education. They're trying to cut the Office of Civil Rights. They're trying to cut the departments that actually deal with the problem of anti-Semitism, but finally, you can't deal with anti-Semitism itself unless you also deal with the problem of Islamophobia. ”

Mr. Philip also asked, “Do you believe that what Israel is doing in Gaza is genocide, as some of your colleagues have said?”

Bowman said: “What's happening in Gaza right now is mass murder, it's a war crime. You're talking about Hamas controlling the Palestinians in Gaza. There's been a blockade in Gaza for several years. Gaza. People can't leave anyway: water, food, energy [are] controlled by Israel. So don't be unilateral, Hamas is controlling his own people – and I agree with you, the people of Gaza don't want that – [while] Excludes the blockade of Israel. ”
