Israeli airstrike in Beirut kills senior Hezbollah commander

BEIRUT, Jan. 8 – An Israeli military offensive in southern Lebanon on Monday killed a senior commander in Hezbollah's elite Radwan unit, three security sources told Reuters.

Security sources identified him as Wissam al-Tawil, deputy commander of the Radwan force.

He and another Hezbollah terrorist were killed in a car crash during an attack on the Lebanese village of Majdal Serm, the statement said.

“This is a very painful attack,” one security official said. Another said: “It's only going to get worse.”
