Iranian Supreme Leader Reportedly Killed
Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, was reportedly killed in a military operation conducted by the United States and Israel, as reported by Reuters, referencing Israeli authorities.
President Trump declared that the U.S. military initiated an operation named “Operation Epic Fury.” This announcement was shared on Truth Social early Saturday. According to Reuters national security correspondent Idris Ali, Khamenei’s body has been identified, based on information from Israeli sources.
In a tweet, an Israeli official confirmed to Reuters the death of Ayatollah Khamenei and indicated that his body has indeed been located.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show an attack on Khamenei’s residence. A woman can be heard claiming that the compound of the Supreme Leader was targeted during the assault.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu provided updates, suggesting significant indications that Khamenei was not alive any longer, as reflected in statements made earlier in the day to the Israeli public.
Netanyahu discussed the targeting of Khamenei’s residence, and though he stated that there’s no official confirmation of Khamenei’s death, it’s clear that Israeli officials believe the attack achieved its goal.
Back in January 2026, Khamenei had directed threats toward President Trump via social media, even illustrating Trump in a coffin. In response during a January 21 interview, Trump mentioned that the U.S. would “wipe out” Iran from existence if any of Khamenei’s threats were carried out.
Additionally, Trump had cautioned Iran against harming demonstrators opposing Khamenei’s government, going as far as threatening to execute arrested protesters. While Iran reportedly did not execute the 800 protesters alluded to by Trump, thousands have allegedly been killed by regime forces.
In a separate incident in June 2025, the U.S. conducted airstrikes on facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, which were believed to support Iran’s nuclear ambitions, successfully damaging the nuclear program with no American casualties reported. This operation utilized seven U.S. Air Force B-2A Spirit bombers.
