Israeli hockey league unafraid to get political headed to UBS Arena

Isaac Levy was involved in Israeli hockey for the majority of the generation who were first suitable for national teams under the age of 18 in 1998. Almost all of his teammates were double citizens who grew up in North America.

The levy for the 42-year-old, one of the founding members of the Israeli Elite Hockey League and captain of the Jerusalem Capitals, talks about the significance of UBS Arena holding two IEHL clubs this weekend.

“It's incredible. There's a Stanley Cup banner hanging from the ceiling, with two Israeli teams playing,” Levy posted this week on a phone call. “It's historical. I've been able to live so many historic moments playing for Israeli hockey, but this is definitely something I have to be on the top.”

The game on Long Island is not the first showcase of IEHL outside of Israel. This is the first time that a selected team of league players has played the game in North America and Finland, but this is the biggest arena they have played, and the first time they have played in such a game in contrast to the teams where two IEHL teams have been selected.
