Israeli Hostage Killed in Gaza; Hamas Blames Israel

Sahar Baruch, a 25-year-old Israeli engineering student who was abducted from Kibbutz Beeri on October 7, was killed in Gaza. Terrorist group Hamas said he was killed during a rescue attempt earlier this week and blamed Israel.

As Breitbart News noted, Kibbutz Beeri was one of the areas hardest hit by the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas, in which 100 people, about 10% of the population, were killed. Some of the killings were extremely brutal. The houses were filled with blood.

Hamas released a propaganda video this week that showed Baruch's bloody and mangled body, showing blood-soaked floors and stairs, suggesting his body had been dragged through the building (Breitbart) news will not be published). Israeli sources confirmed Baruch's death, and the Kibbutz Beeri community said Hamas itself had killed Baruch in captivity.
era of israel report:

As fighting continued, Kibbutz Be'eri announced that Sahar Baruch, a resident who was kidnapped and held hostage in Gaza on October 7, was killed in captivity.

The statement did not detail when or how the 25-year-old man died, but it came a day after Hamas released a propaganda video purporting to show his body.

Baruch, an engineering student at Ben-Gurion University, was accompanied by his grandmother, Geula Bashar, and his brother, Idan Baruch, 20, a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces Educational Corps.

Sahar Baluch reportedly ran into her parents' home to retrieve her brother's asthma inhaler. Geula and Idan are killed and Sahar is taken hostage.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a rescue operation this week, announcing that several Hamas terrorists were killed and two IDF soldiers were wounded. Hamas claimed that one Israeli Defense Force soldier was injured and one soldier was killed in the operation. The Israel Defense Forces denied that any soldiers were killed.

Hamas has lied about the deaths of hostages before. Last month, abducted Israeli Defense Force soldier Noah Marciano, 19, claimed to have been killed in an Israeli airstrike. The IDF concluded that she had been murdered after recovering her body near Shifa Hospital.

Hamas has a clear motive for claiming that the hostages were killed during rescue. Hamas would like to thwart such an attempt, and perhaps also hope to capitalize on Israel's strong public support for diplomatic efforts to free the hostages.

The IDF is warning people against spreading propaganda issued by Hamas as part of its ongoing psychological warfare operations.
