Israeli Mother Confronts UNRWA Chief: ‘UNRWA Kidnapped My Son!’

Ayelet Samerano, whose 21-year-old son was killed by Hamas on October 7 and whose body was brought to Gaza, clashed with Philippe Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), in a speech on Thursday.

Jonathan the son of Sammelano killed According to the Times of Israel, his “body was seized by UNRWA staff and taken to the Gaza Strip after he was killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7.” Israel has said that several UNRWA staff members were involved in the October 7 attack, many of whom belonged to terrorist organizations, and that many had praised it. As a result, several countries have suspended funding, although others have since resumed it.

Lazzarini gave a pro-Palestinian speech in Lausanne, Switzerland, to mark Swiss National Day.

But Samerano, wearing a T-shirt with a picture of his son and the words: “UNRWA has kidnapped my son! Mr Lazzarini, where is my son?”, rose to the occasion and heckled him relentlessly.

United Nations Watch report:

Lazzarini was delivering the keynote address at the city of Lausanne’s National Day celebrations and the 300th day since Yonatan’s body was found in captivity in Gaza.

The decision by Lausanne’s Socialist mayor, Grégoire Junod, to invite Mr Lazzarini was Terrorist connections.

“UNRWA officials kidnapped my son. Social workers from a so-called humanitarian organization kidnapped my son,” Samerano said.

Israel has called for Lazzarini’s dismissal and says UNRWA will have no role in Gaza after the war.
