CNN reports that Israeli whistleblowers have alleged mistreatment of Palestinians at the military base in Sde Teyman, which also serves as a detention center.
Three Israelis worked at a base where Palestinians are being held during the war in Gaza. Suspect Doctors at the facility sometimes amputated prisoners’ limbs and performed medical procedures for which they were not qualified.
According to whistleblowers, doctors amputated prisoners’ limbs due to persistent handcuff injuries.
The facility consists of two parts: one is an enclosure where approximately 70 Palestinian detainees are subjected to severe physical restraint; Another is a field hospital where injured detainees are strapped to beds in diapers and fed through straws, the report said.
“They stripped away everything resembling a human being,” said one whistleblower who worked at the field hospital, according to CNN.
Another whistleblower said, “(The beating) was not done to gather information.”
“They were done out of revenge,” the second whistleblower continued, according to CNN. “This was a punishment for what they (Palestinians) did on October 7, for their actions inside the camp.”
The Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing more than 1,100 people.
In response to CNN’s report, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told the outlet it would “ensure appropriate action against detainees in its custody.”
“All allegations of misconduct by IDF soldiers will be investigated and dealt with accordingly,” the IDF said, according to CNN. “In appropriate cases, an MPCID (Military Police Criminal Investigation Department) investigation will be initiated if there is suspicion of illegal activity justifying such actions.”
“Detainees will be handcuffed based on their risk level and health status,” the IDF continued. “No incidents of illegal handcuffing are known to authorities.”
Hill contacted the IDF.
