Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday on CNN’s “The Lead” that Democrats need to remove President Joe Biden from their running.
Host Jake Tapper asked, “James, do you think President Biden can be re-elected in November?”
“That’s not the real issue. The real issue is we have a Supreme Court that’s been bought off with campers and fishing trips,” Carville said. “Seventy-two percent of the nation wants something different. If the Democrats can’t produce something different that 72 percent of the nation wants, then what are we for? What are we here for? I mean, the nation is clamoring for change, so what are we going to give them? The same thing? It just doesn’t make sense, Jake. Give the nation what they want. The nation wants something different. Let’s give it to them. I mean, I just don’t get it, I’m gonna be honest with you.”
He continued, “What you saw on Thursday night is what everyone saw. This was a year ago and I’ll be 80 in October. You can’t fight it. It’s just there and it happens.”
He added, “If the Democratic Party is going to stick to the status quo, if they’re going to stick to something that three-quarters of Americans don’t want, then you have to say, why do we exist, what are we here for?”
“Biden met with his family over the weekend at Camp David and was informed that they believe he should continue to campaign. What is your reaction?” Tapper said.
“They may love you, but their judgment is clouded by love. I mean, I really love Christmas and I really love Biden, but this country needs something new,” Carville said.
