‘It Makes No Difference’ if Mike Johnson or Hakeem Jeffries Is Speaker

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) spoke Tuesday on CNN’s “The Lead” with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) ) won the top spot, he said.

Host Jake Tapper said, “House Democratic leaders took an unusual step today. announced it would save the speakership of deeply conservative Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson if necessary. How are lawmakers responding?

Congress correspondent Manu Raju said on the steps of Parliament House. That means we’re probably expecting a large number of members to vote overwhelmingly to block the effort to oust Mike Johnson. This is a far cry from what happened in the historic and unprecedented ouster of Kevin McCarthy last fall, when all Democrats voted with eight Republicans to oust him. An overwhelming number of Democrats are expected to save Mike Johnson this time. ”

“Every day we’ve been here, we’ve been passing Democratic agendas. We have a slim majority in the House, and everything passes overwhelmingly with Democratic support,” Boebert said. So it makes no difference to me whether the speaker is Hakeem Jeffries or Mike Johnson right now.

“He’s under siege in different areas,” said Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.).

Raju asked, “Are you satisfied that Democrats will vote to keep Mike Johnson in the Speaker position?”

“No, that’s not the case,” said Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.).
