Fox Sports anchor Colin Cowherd praised Vice President Kamala Harris for her positivity, saying he appreciated how she was smiling and laughing a lot.
While discussing the Paris Olympics, the legendary radio host began by saying he feels Americans are looking for positivity in their entertainment.
“It’s an election year and we’re hearing more and more doomsday scenarios, but people want to be happy,” he said on the show.Colin Cowherd and the Herd.“
The presenter then commented on how sports had been a welcome escape during the election.
“People are putting down their phones and turning on things that make them happy. Caitlin Clark, Copa America [soccer]”The Summer Olympics. Americans are a lot more united than anyone would like to admit, watching on their iPhones, but that’s a hard sell. We really want the same things, but we watch different news channels for them. People are tired of the anxiety,” Cowherd argued.
The sports experts I remembered He watched hours of CNN segments featuring the vice president and praised her for making him feel positive by smiling and laughing.
“I turned on CNN this weekend, and I wasn’t planning on it, but they did a feature on Kamala Harris, and it was like two hours long, and the difference between her and the other candidate is she laughed a lot,” Cowherd said, comparing Harris to Donald Trump.
“She was happy, she was laughing. It wasn’t all accusations or complaints. And I sat there for two hours. It was so invigorating. I don’t know much about Kamala Harris other than what I’ve read, so it wasn’t really important, but it was invigorating. That’s why I watch the Olympics a lot,” he added.
Reports say Terrible announcementCowherd has previously promoted his show as an escape from politics and said his show would remain largely apolitical.
“This show is going to be something that people can come and have a laugh and get some college basketball betting tips in the middle of this ugly thing that’s going on,” he said at the time.
Cowherd also cited the presidential debate between President Trump and President Biden and promised the audience that the atmosphere surrounding the candidates will only worsen as the election approaches.
“I watched it for a while last night and everyone was smiling with negativity, but I was like, ‘This is going to change,’ and it’s going to get worse in September, October, November,” Cowherd said.
The hosts’ penchant for pursuing political debates from angles that lack policy or fact-based arguments exposes a sore spot in most sports media: There seems to be a consensus in some media that political discussion is acceptable as long as it is left-wing and hollow. At the same time, any comment that is too superficial or is seen as promoting right-leaning politics is deemed inappropriate for sports broadcasting.
