First Lady Welcomes 2025 White House Christmas Tree

On November 24, 2025, First Lady Melania Trump greeted the official White House Christmas tree—a 25-foot concolor fir from a Michigan tree farm—at the North Portico. This event marked the beginning of the holiday season and her second term as First Lady following President Donald Trump’s re-election.

This tree was chosen as the National Christmas Tree Association’s (NCTA) “Grand Champion” in July, making it the first winner from Michigan since 1985. It will take center stage in the Blue Room, surrounded by the festive decorations of the season.

Since 1966, the presentation of the official White House Christmas tree has been a tradition, with a member of the NCTA selecting it for display in the Blue Room each year. The process involves a nationwide competition that starts at state and regional levels, culminating in a national event where a panel chooses the Grand Champion grower to provide the White House tree—an esteemed recognition in the Christmas tree industry.

The concolor fir from Korson’s Tree Farms represents a continuation of this long-standing tradition, now in its 59th year.

As the tree arrived, pulled by a charming horse-drawn carriage, Melania radiated happiness, and the holiday spirit seemed to envelop everyone present. Dressed in a long white coat, red gloves, and plaid heels, she remarked to reporters, “It will be beautiful! We are going to plan.”

However, she hasn’t yet shared what the theme for this year’s White House Christmas will be. During her first term, themes included Time-Honored Traditions (2017), American Treasures (2018), The Spirit of America (2019), and America the Beautiful (2020).
