A Unique Piece of Serial Killer Memorabilia for Sale

If you’re looking to own a piece of history from one of the most infamous female serial killers, you might want to prepare to spend quite a bit.

The Mardelabilia website, known as a true crime collective, recently secured items that once belonged to Aileen Wuornos. This includes her size 8 LA Gear sneakers, which she wore during her arrest, as well as a crucifix she had on when she faced execution.

Jordan Cook from True Crime Collective mentioned that the sneakers could go for around $20,000 to $30,000 but he’s open to some negotiation. That’s a lot for a pair of shoes, even for shoes with quite a story behind them.

Wuornos, dubbed the “Maiden of Death,” was responsible for the murders of seven men during a year-long killing spree in Florida. She always maintained that she acted in self-defense, despite also having robbed her victims. She was executed in 2002 at the age of 46.

The 2003 film “Monster,” featuring Charlize Theron, dramatized her life, and Theron even won an Oscar for her portrayal. Interestingly, during her acceptance speech, she didn’t mention anything about serial killers.

More recently, Wuornos has resurfaced in a new Netflix documentary titled “Irene: Queen of Serial Killers,” which explores her crimes and questions whether she truly received a fair trial.

Apart from the sneakers and crucifix, the collection also includes a Bible filled with Wuornos’ notes, some radio gear, and even her handwritten letters. Cook mentioned these personal letters and paintings would roughly cost around $500.

One of the letters displays her excitement about receiving a Play Girl card, saying, “I don’t seem very Christian, but I have to see a nice woman before I go.” It’s fascinating how something so dark still reflects glimpses of her humanity.

There’s also a last Polaroid taken just before her execution and the flip-flops worn in the injection room. Cook pointed out how rare this collection is, noting he and his wife acquired these pieces from a forensic psychiatrist who purchased them from a friend of Wuornos, who had been instructed to sell them as needed.

Additionally, they have a robe and bandana from Wuornos, with the bandana priced at $1,500 and the robe at $10,000.

Cook anticipates that the sneakers will attract the most attention, like, who wouldn’t want those shoes?

All items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
