‘It’s because I’m black’: Trooper arrests Philly LGBT Affairs head, husband amid traffic stop; trooper now on restricted duty

Part of Saturday’s arrest of Selena Morrison and her husband, Darius MacLean, CEO of the Transgender Resource Center, was captured on video.

State police charged the couple with summary charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and a traffic violation, but the newspaper said City District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office dismissed the charges and that Morrison MacLean was released from custody on Saturday evening.

The Inquirer cited state police as saying Morrison was driving a gray Infiniti sedan with an expired and suspended registration, driving in the rain without headlights on and illegally tinting the vehicle. Police said Morrison was pulled over on Interstate 676 for driving with a broken window and driving too close to another vehicle.

The newspaper reported that after a traffic stop, MacLean pulled up behind them, and state police said MacLean “became verbally combative” and “issued multiple lawful commands” after approaching officers. “he refused,” he added.

Investigators said officers tried to arrest MacLean and Morrison tried to intervene, adding that she was also arrested.

In a video of Morrison’s arrest, she can be heard yelling, “I work for the mayor!” I work for the mayor! ” MacLean was found lying on the shoulder of the highway, the newspaper said.

The officer then walked towards Prime Minister Scott Morrison and told her to “turn around” and “put your hands out or you’ll be taped up,” WPVI reported. At one point, investigators said Prime Minister Scott Morrison could be heard saying: “He just hit me.”

The newspaper reported that state police are conducting an internal investigation into the incident, adding that the unnamed officer will not be on patrol while on restricted duty.

Jane Roe, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, told investigators that no decision on charges has been made and that authorities are investigating all aspects of the case.

“Videos circulating on social media depicting portions of the incident are extremely concerning and we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete,” Mayor Sherrell Parker said in a social media post, the newspaper reported. ” he added.
