It’s ‘Irony’ That Charlie Kirk Was ‘Shot with a Gun’

Michael Keaton Reflects on Charlie Kirk’s Murder

Actor Michael Keaton took a moment to address the recent murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, describing the irony in Kirk’s assassination. At a gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of investigative reporters and editors, Keaton noted Kirk’s death was particularly poignant.

“Before we dive into the main discussion, I just want to say that, perhaps, I don’t disagree with some of the things he said. But Charlie Kirk leaves behind a wife and two children. That’s something we need to consider,” he stated, as highlighted by a report.

He went on to express that the shooting itself doesn’t resolve anything, emphasizing the irony in Kirk being killed with a gun, especially since he was a vocal supporter of Second Amendment rights.

Keaton was at the gala to receive the Champion of Investigative Journalism Award, but he didn’t elaborate further on his views about Kirk, distinctly not joining in any celebration of the assassination like some others in Hollywood.

It’s worth mentioning that Keaton’s political stance isn’t entirely conservative, having critiqued former President Donald Trump and Republican voters in the past. In 2021, he was part of the Hollywood elite promoting election denial, backing Joe Biden in 2020, and in 2018, he expressed strong disapproval of Republicans and gun owners.

Interestingly, he did voice concerns in 2022 regarding the FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, framing it as potential overreach that could affect ordinary citizens. Additionally, in 2021, he advised celebrities to avoid getting too political, suggesting it could harm their causes more than help.

Even back in 2015, he was prompted to support traditional conservative values, showcasing his complex, sometimes contradictory views.
