On Wednesday, on FNC's “The Story,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called President Joe Biden for impeachment, not Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for failing to secure the U.S. southern border. He rejected the suggestion that he should.
The Texas Republican laid out the consequences of the Biden administration's failures at the border to strengthen his case.
“Look, I think the House is doing exactly the right thing,” he said. “I think Mr. Alejandro Mayorkas should be impeached. I think he should have been impeached two years ago. I want you to understand that it's not that Mayorkas is bad at his job. It's that he publicly He's breaking the law. He's not trying to secure the border. He's actually trying to accelerate illegal immigration. He's trying to process illegal immigration faster. Joe Biden in office. During that period, 9.6 million illegal immigrants flooded into this country, and Mr. Mayorkas has ignored what the law says, putting Americans at great risk.”
“We've seen crime. We've seen children being abused. We've seen women being sexually assaulted. Last year we saw a record 100,000 We've seen drug overdoses like this,” Cruz continued. “Seventy percent of that is a flood across the southern border from Chinese fentanyl. And those body bags are because of Alejandro Mayorkas and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. So I think this house is right. Kudos to you for doing that. It needs to be done. This has to stop.”
