One of Joe Biden’s most staunch Hollywood fundraisers and cheerleaders has dealt a blow to the president’s faltering reelection campaign.
In a shocking announcement on Sunday, Rob Reiner declared that “it’s time for Joe Biden to leave office.”
Rob Reiner announced his dramatic change of heart in a post on X, saying “we lose our democracy” if Trump wins. The actor and director did not say whether he wanted Biden to give up reelection, leave the White House, or both.
Let’s stop kidding ourselves. If a convicted criminal wins, we lose our democracy. Joe Biden has served America with honor, decency and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.

The surprising change of heart comes after Reiner had been one of Biden’s biggest supporters in the entertainment industry over the past few years, even going so far as to declare him the best president since Lyndon B. Johnson.
Reiner has been Biden’s chief fundraiser, funneling donations from celebrities and Hollywood executives into Biden’s coffers, and just last week, in the aftermath of Biden’s dismal debate performance, Reiner was still at the forefront, hosting a Hollywood fundraiser.
But behind the scenes, Reiner was not so cheerful.
Reiner reportedly lost his temper during a viewing party for CNN’s live debate, yelling as Biden repeatedly froze and struggled to finish his sentences, Breitbart News reported.
After Joe Biden gave an incoherent answer about the border during Thursday night’s debate, Donald Trump dismissed the president’s response as nonsense, saying, “I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about either.”

But the filmmaker issued a message the day after the debate reaffirming his support for Biden. “It’s not a hard choice,” he wrote.
Last night’s debate was a disastrous defeat for President Biden. But the choice remains crystal clear. We can either choose a good, decent person who cares about the people and knows how to govern, or we can choose a convicted criminal who will destroy our democracy. It’s not a hard choice.

Reiner is the latest Hollywood megadonor to defect to the Biden campaign.
Among those who have withdrawn their support are Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, veteran studio president Barry Diller, and lost Creator Damon Lindelof.
