Gonzalez Calls for End to Foreigners in Congress

In a recent episode of “Sara Gonzalez Unfiltered,” the host Sarah Gonzalez argued that it might be time to reevaluate the participation of foreign-born individuals in Congress. She pointed out that historically, their loyalty to the U.S. appears questionable.

“A clear example is Ilhan Omar, who supposedly helped orchestrate a scheme involving Somalis in Minnesota,” Gonzalez stated. She emphasized that it feels as though Omar is “throwing a party at a restaurant funded by taxpayers, while those funds are linked to terrorist groups.”

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has often made her loyalties known, which Gonzalez highlighted by referencing a clip of Omar speaking to fellow Somalis in Somalia. In that clip, Omar mentioned, “Rest in peace because I’m here to protect Somalia’s interests from within the American system.” She continued, “I care just as deeply about Somalia as you do.”

Gonzalez expressed her frustration, indicating that Omar’s statements contradict the oath that individuals take when naturalizing, which includes renouncing allegiance to any foreign power.

Moreover, Gonzalez noted that Omar isn’t the only foreign-born politician raising concerns. She mentioned Michigan Congressman Shri Thanedar (D), who immigrated from India in 1979.

“Thanedar spent his whole adult life in India before coming here,” Gonzalez remarked, showing a video in which Thanedar discussed articles of impeachment against Army Secretary Pete Hegseth. His speech, characterized by a thick Indian accent, left Gonzalez questioning his grasp of the English language. “He’s been here for quite a while but seems not to have refined his English skills,” she said.

Gonzalez concluded with a firm statement: “If you’re not aligned with our values, maybe it’s best to go back home.”
