A horrifying scene unfolded Sunday as the bus transporting the IU Indianapolis men's basketball team returned to campus and set fire to light.
None of the schools were injured in the programme.
The X account for the College Experience podcast is All the gear on the team burned Some individuals have lost their wallets and phones.
“On my drive back from today's game against Kentucky, the bus carrying the IU Indianapolis men's basketball team experienced mechanical issues that caused a fire around Kent, Indiana.” The team's athletic department tweeted Until 6:22pm on Sunday nights.
“All members of the team and staff evacuated the bus without getting injured. Another bus is on the way to pick up the team and return it to Indianapolis.”
One of the photos circulating on social media shows the team's bus was completely burnt on the side of the road, with windows completely blown away, opening the bottom bend and damaged.
Another captured a smoked bus, but two individuals (one appears to be wearing team gear) left it as another individual saw.
We were able to see one car and a tractor trailer approaching the background.
Earlier in the day, the IU Indianapolis Jaguars lost to Northern Kentucky, 71-67, falling 9-20 and 5-13 in the Horizon League. IU Indianapolis now loses four and six of the eight.
According to Google Maps, bus trips from the campus in Highland Heights in northern Kentucky and Highland Heights, Kentucky to the IU Indianapolis campus are around 120 miles.
Kent, Indiana is about 90 minutes from Indianapolis.
The staff at IU Indianapolis were at WLWT in Cincinnati. The bus experienced mechanical problems In Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the team went home before 9pm.
The Jaguars returned Thursday when they held Robert Morris (22-8, 14-5 Horizon), who leads the meeting at 6:30pm.
