Ivanka Trump said she was praying for the country after former President Trump said he was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I thank you all for your love and prayers for my father and the victims of today’s senseless violence,” Trump’s 42-year-old daughter said in a statement.Post to social media platform XSaturday.
“A suspected gunman fired multiple shots from an elevated stage outside the rally” while Trump was speaking at a campaign rally, the Secret Service said in a statement, adding that he was “clear and safe.”
Authorities said one spectator was killed and two were injured and that the incident was being investigated as an assassination attempt.
Ivanka Trump thanked authorities, writing, “I appreciate the swift and decisive action of the Secret Service and all other law enforcement officials today.”
“I continue to pray for our country,” wrote Trump, who served as a senior adviser in his father’s administration.
“I love you now and always will, Dad,” she added.
In 2022, on the same night her father announced he would run for president in 2024, Ivanka Trump said she had “no intention of getting involved in politics.”
The mother of three said in an interview earlier this month that she would not campaign with her father because she chose to spend time raising her young children. Trump said there was “a lot of darkness” in politics.
