Former first lady Ivanka Trump reflected on the two-year anniversary of her mother’s death, saying her mother, Ivana, was “watching over” her father, who survived an assassination attempt on Saturday night.
“Two years ago today, my mother passed away. I believe she was watching over my father when the attempt on his life was made last night.” Ivanka wrote on social media. About his mother, Ivana Trump, who died in 2022 at the age of 73.
“I miss her every day and pray for the safety of her family and friends who remain behind,” she added.
The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office said at the time that Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of former President Donald Trump and mother of Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., died after falling down the stairs of her Manhattan home.
The former model’s death has been ruled an “accident” by the coroner’s office.
The day after the anniversary of Ivana Trump’s death comes one day after a gunman identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks (20) shot and injured former President Trump from a rooftop about 130 yards away while he was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Police said the attack left Trump with a grazed ear, one rally attendee dead and at least two others seriously injured.
Secret Service agents swung into action, rushing the bleeding Trump off the stage, and Crooks was shot and killed a short time later by a Secret Service sniper, police said.
Chilling video and photos show a gunman on a nearby rooftop taking aim at the former president moments before he was shot dead.
The FBI has not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
