‘I’ve Been Sick — VERY Sick’

British rocker Phil Collins, drummer singer for Band Genesis, who became a chart-topping solo artist, says he has no desire to create new music due to serious health issues.

It's new Interview and Mojo Magazine, Collins says that even his own home, he is “not hungry” for creative endeavors.

“I think I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens,” Collins tells Mojo's Mark Blake. “But I'm not hungry for that anymore. The thing is, I was sick. very disease…”

Collins suffered severe nerve damage following a spinal injury in 2007, and his mobility has deteriorated in recent years. That is, at the 2022 Genesis farewell show, he had to sit and sing while his son Nick played the drums.

Collins, now 74 years old, began his professional drumming career in the late 1960s, joined the Progressive Rock Band Genesis in 1970, and later joined Peter Gabriel. In 1975 Gabriel left the band to focus on his solo career. Resort – Collins took over as the lead vocalist for Genesis, continuing his role for decades, leading its signature lineup from the final tour that ran from 2021 to 2022. On the farewell show, he sat in a padded chair and sang.

In 2021, Collins informed the world that he would not be playing drums on the group's farewell tour, telling the interviewer: I'm a bit physically challenging, but it's very frustrating. “Phil Collins: Drummer,” which just appeared last year, said in a documentary filmed after Genesis 'Final: “They've just appeared in the last year. I've played drums for the rest of my life. It's a shock to not be able to do that all of a sudden. …If I wake up one day and have a pair of drumsticks, I have a crack in it. But I feel like I've exhausted my air miles. ”
